School Leadership Matters
By 2012, half of the current principals leading the 92 public schools in Bridgeport, Danbury, Norwalk and Stamford will retire, and there are few qualified candidates to take their place. At stake: the education and futures of 60,000 children already facing one of the largest achievement gaps in the nation.
Read how FCCF is turning this crisis into an opportunity, and how you can help Fairfield County’s urban schools prepare children for a bright future.

Economic Impact Report
In the spring of 2009, as the impacts of the recession deepened and many Fairfield County residents found themselves in dire financial straits, the Fairfield County Community Foundation launched a survey of regional nonprofits, looking to understand how the recession was impacting area residents and the nonprofits that support them. The findings of that survey, along with a regional overview and recommendations for nonprofits and donors can be found in the 53-page report released by the Foundation in October. The full data results from the survey can be viewed by clicking here.
Developing Instructional Leaders
With more than half of all principals expected to retire in the next five years, Fairfield County's urban districts - Bridgeport, Danbury, Norwalk and Stamford - face a potential leadership void. The Fairfield County Community Foundation's Urban School Leaders Fellowship seeks to address this challenge and reduce the achievement gap by providing training to future principals who can lead and improve the education in these districts. In this important paper featured in the Annenberg Institute dationfor School Reform's journal, leaders of the Urban School Leaders Fellowship describe the program, the impact it is having and how it can be used as a model for reshaping urban education.
