Fund for Women and Girls 11th Annual Luncheon

Guests at last year's luncheon celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Fund for Women and Girls, honoring those who have made a difference and pledging to help with the work yet to come.
Make a difference for women and girls in your own backyard by joining friends at the Fund for Women and Girls Luncheon 11th Annual Luncheon on April 8 at the Hyatt Regency Greenwich.

You’ll hear witty, insightful and provocative Gail Collins, The New York Times op-ed columnist and author, celebrate all that you and the Fund for Women and Girls have accomplished, and be inspired by what lies ahead.

Ms. Collins will sign her newest book, “When Everything Changed, The Amazing Journey of American Women from 1960 to the Present.” Books will be available for sale.

This year’s luncheon theme, “Charting the Path to Possibility,” spotlights the power of helping women overcome obstacles and turn their dreams into reality. When you help a woman improve her life, you also set in motion positive change for her children, her extended family, her community and society.

Since 1998 Fund for Women and Girls supporters like you have made it possible for struggling Fairfield County women to move into safe and affordable housing… for girls find to their voices, make healthy choices and develop the skills and confidence to become leaders… and for low- and mid-wage women supporting dependents achieve economic security. Who knows how far the ripples of your generosity will travel? Learn more.

About Gail Collins

Ms. Collins joined The New York Times in 1995 as a member of the editorial board and later as an op-ed columnist. In 2001 she became the first woman ever appointed editor of the Times' editorial page.

In early 2007, she stepped down to finish her book: “When Everything Changed: The Amazing Journey of American Women from 1960 to the Present.” She returned to the Times as a columnist in July 2007.
Before joining the Times, Ms. Collins was a columnist at New York Newsday and the New York Daily News, and a reporter for UPI.

Her first jobs in journalism were in Connecticut, where she founded the Connecticut State News Bureau, which provided coverage of the state capitol and Connecticut politics. When she sold it in 1977, the CSNB was the largest news service of its kind in the country, with more than 30 weekly and daily newspaper chains.

In addition to “When Everything Changed,” Ms. Collins is the author of “America's Women,” “Scorpion Tongues: Gossip, Celebrity and American Politics,” and “The Millennium Book,” which she coauthored with her husband, Dan Collins.
