Solutions for Your Clients

"As an estate planning attorney, I regularly work with clients who wish to include charitable giving in their plans. A community foundation provides a superb means for organizing those plans, and offers extensive resources to help clients to direct their gifts in the most meaningful way."

We specialize in helping Fairfield County residents and companies make a difference in their own backyard with charitable giving that’s meaningful, effective and easy.

6 Solutions for Client Philanthropy

  1. Your clients want to make a meaningful difference in their own backyard
  2. Your clients need a major tax deduction
  3. Your clients want to give anonymously
  4. Your clients want help with their private foundation’s 5% payout
  5. Your clients no longer wish to manage their private foundation, but want to continue their philanthropy
  6. Your clients want to give more than they can afford right now

1. Your clients want to make a meaningful difference in their own backyard

They can establish a charitable fund with us, like a donor advised fund, then support their favorite causes close to home and anywhere in the world.

We differ from the commercial gift funds in five ways:
  1. We listen to their charitable giving desires close to home and around the world
  2. We help them create a giving plan
  3. We introduce them to local nonprofits that match their desires and values
  4. We advise them about new, local giving opportunities that match their desires
  5. We invite them to briefings and events
Of course, we handle all paperwork and reporting, and oversee professional asset investment management.

2. Your clients need a major tax deduction

They can establish a charitable fund and receive immediate tax benefits. They can wait to recommend grants from the fund.

3. Your clients want to give anonymously

Those with a private foundation who want to make anonymous gifts can establish a donor advised fund and give anonymously. By establishing a fund, they gain access to our community expertise and knowledge about local nonprofits.

4. Your clients want help with their private foundation’s 5% payout

a) Clients can award all or part of the 5% payout with a grant to any of our regional initiatives or an existing fund at the Fairfield County Community Foundation.

b) Clients can establish a charitable fund with us, then place all or part of the required payout in the fund as a qualified distribution. They can wait to recommend grants from the fund. By establishing a fund, they gain access to our community expertise and knowledge about local nonprofits.

5. Your clients no longer wish to manage their private foundation, but want to continue their philanthropy

Clients can convert a private foundation into a donor advised fund. They experience the joy of philanthropy while we handle all of the administrative responsibilities.

6. Your clients want to give more than they can afford right now

They can remember their favorite cause or community in a planned gift or bequest to the Fairfield County Community Foundation. Or, they can assign the Community Foundation to give where the need is greatest.
