What We Fund

As a Fairfield County nonprofit, you are an essential partner in our mission to build and sustain a vital and prosperous community where all have the opportunity to participate and thrive.

We Assist You In Four Ways

  1. You can apply for a competitive grant in any of our six priority program areas
  2. You can attend low-cost, high-quality workshops offered by our Center for Nonprofit Excellence
  3. You can apply for a financial assistance grant to help you cover costs for an audit, accounting software, staff training and more.
  4. 4You can establish an Organization Endowment fund at the Community Foundation to make your financial future more stable.

In addition, we introduce our fundholders to Fairfield County nonprofits that match their charitable giving passions.

Six Grantmaking Priority Program Areas

As a community foundation, we award competitive grants to local nonprofits addressing the highest priority needs in Fairfield County. We give priority to grant requests to programs addressing these program areas:

  1. Economic Opportunity
  2. Education and Youth Development
  3. Health and Human Services
  4. Arts and Culture
  5. The Environment
  6. Strengthening Local Nonprofits

Grantmaking History

In fiscal 2010, our supporters and fundholders helped us award a record $11.5 million in grants. Of that amount, $2 million were competitive grants awarded to Fairfield County nonprofits. In addition, we brokered another $1.4 million in grants that were awarded to local organizations.
