Applying for a Grant

Nonprofits looking to apply for a competitive grant from the Foundation must match one of our grantmaking priority areas, be eligible based on our grantmaking parameters and follow the application process outlined below.

Application Process

The Foundation has instituted a two-step application process.

Step 1: Submission of a letter of inquiry.

A letter of inquiry outlines the proposed project for which your organization seeks funding consideration. Letters of inquiry are accepted online throughout the year.

Once submitted, the Foundation's program staff will review your letter and follow up with you to learn more about the proposed project and to assess the project’s fit with the Foundation’s current grantmaking priorities.

Step 2: Invitation to submit a full proposal

Based on your letter of inquiry, the Foundation's program staff will determine whether a full proposal should be invited for competitive review by our Program Committee.

Invited full proposals are reviewed during specific grantmaking cycles each fiscal year and have specific deadlines for submission. There are three grantmaking cycles each year.
