Hurricane Irene Disaster Relief
Hurricane Irene left a trail of destruction across Fairfield County, in Connecticut and throughout the northeast. Hundreds of thousands of Fairfield County residents remain without power.
How you can help
Right now, local nonprofits and government programs need funding to meet urgent requirements for food, water and medical services throughout our communities.
You can make a secure, online donation at www.ct.gov/irene.
As the recovery progresses, we will update this page to alert you about changing needs.
What the Foundation is doing
Immediately after the storm, the Foundation awarded a grant to the American Red Cross to aid relief efforts.
The Foundation also connected state and federal officials with area
nonprofits able to deliver emergency support. Among these partnerships
is a collaboration with the office of Congressman Jim Himes and the CT
Food Bank to provide trucks and delivery of pallets of drinking water
throughout Fairfield County.
This water delivery program has been offered to all selectmen and mayors in the county's 23 towns and cities.
