Foundation Scholarships
Greater Bridgeport Area Scholarships - Apply Online
Graduating seniors from high schools and current college students from the Greater Bridgeport Area
towns of Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Milford, Monroe, Shelton,
Stratford, Trumbull or Westport may apply for scholarships from the Fairfield County Community Foundation. (General and scholarship-specific eligibility are described below.)
Deadline for submission is 11:59 p.m., March 31, 2012.
Required materials for the online application:
- Official transcript with most recent Grade Report
- SAT scores (for high school seniors)
- Letter of Recommendation (2nd letter if required by scholarship criteria)
- Copy of Student Aid Report (SAR) (available online by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Visit www.FAFSA.ed.gov)
- Personal Statement/Essay (2nd essay if required by the scholarship)
- Application is for graduating high school seniors and current undergraduate and graduate students. You will need to specify your current status when you apply.
- You can only submit ONE online application, but can apply for a maximum of four scholarships in your online application.
- Only upload ONE copy of the official transcript, SAT scores, SAR Report and Letter of Recommendation (unless a second Letter of Recommendation is required by the scholarship(s) for which you are applying.)
- Application deadline is 11:59 p.m., March 31, 2012. Late applications will not be accepted.
General Eligibility Criteria
Please review the General Eligibility Criteria below to be sure you are eligible to apply.
- For graduating high school seniors:
- Must be a graduating senior from any high school in the Greater Bridgeport Area towns of Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Milford, Monroe, Shelton, Stratford, Trumbull or Westport NOTE: Any senior at Fairfield Prep, Notre Dame High School (Fairfield) or Lauralton Hall may apply for the Chiota Family Scholarship, regardless of town of residence.
- Be in good academic standing (cumulative GPA of 2.7 or better)
- Demonstrate financial need
- Plan to attend an accredited two- or four-year college or university or post-high school vocational training
- Demonstrate good moral character, good citizenship and a commitment to the community
- Participate in extra-curricular activities
- For current college students (NOT incoming Freshman!):
- Be a current undergraduate (sophomore+) or graduate student enrolled in a program at a college, university or vocational school, or accredited specialized study program
- Have a connection to the greater Bridgeport area either as a native resident, high school graduate or current resident, as stated in the specific scholarship’s requirements. The greater Bridgeport area consists of nine towns: Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Milford, Monroe, Shelton, Stratford, Trumbull or Westport. See scholarship criteria for more specific details. NOTE: Any student at Sacred Heart University may apply for the Megan Cobbledick and Jason Kern Scholarship, regardless of town of residence.
- Demonstrate financial need
- Demonstrate a history of academic achievement (minimum cumulative 2.7 GPA)
