Sharon joined the Foundation in 1993 as a financial systems consultant and migrated into the role of Director of Finance and Administration. In 2005, Sharon assumed her current position in the Development Department.
As Director of Philanthropic Services, Sharon leads and manages the delivery of high quality services to Foundation donors to increase their philanthropic knowledge and satisfaction. In addition, she works with our philanthropic service team to ensure contributions and grant recommendations are processed accurately and quickly.
Sharon earned a BA in Psychology from the University of California at Irvine and an MS in Psychology from Pepperdine University in California.
She is a board member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Fairfield County Chapter, and received certification as a Fundraising Executive in 2009.
Madeleine Thal

Madeleine joined the Foundation in 2010. She previously served as associate director of corporate relations at the Maritime Aquarium and as community director for the March of Dimes. Madeleine has more than 30 years of experience in the private sector, holding account management and new business development positions in the advertising, banking and technology sectors.
Madeleine works with Foundation donors and fundholders providing grant and scholarship administration.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Western Connecticut State university and enjoys cooking, reading, sewing, RVing and music. She lives in Black Rock with her husband, Alan.

Christa joined the Foundation as Development and Philanthropic Services Assistant in October of 2011.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in music management from the Hartt School, University of Hartford.
Christa will earn her Master in Public Administration with a focus in nonprofit management from the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy at SUNY Albany in December 2011.
